Find Lunch – Reasons to buy an Android

Submitted by on Wednesday, 19 May 2010No Comment

I’m sure many people out there in Android land haven’t yet heard about augmented reality and discovered how using the camera and location they are able to explore the world around them.

Verizon’s latest advertisement for the DROID is showing Layar and Lunch layer. The layer enables you to see where the nearest restaurants are in your camera view just by holding up your phone and panning around you. Restaurants are represented by icons with the relevant icon, eg pizza, burger, hot dog etc.

There are over 1000 Layars available, everything from finding food, flights, ATMs, and a whole lot more. Take a look at the full list here.

If you’re new to mobile augmented reality for the Android, take a look these other applications.
