Audi A1 Layer Marketing Campaign

It’s interesting how advertisers are using augmented reality as a marketing vehicle to promote their products and build engaging content for consumers. One of the latest examples is the Audi layer developed by AR Door and Russian advertising agency, Rodnaya Rech.

The campaign takes the form of a layer for the Layer augmented reality browser available for Android and iPhone owners. Users of the browser are encouraged to travel to special points around 5 Russian cities where they can take a picture of the new Audi A1 car and post their picture to Facebook. To encourage users to take the time to interact with the campaign, users are entered into a competition when they upload their picture to the Facebook group.

I think few people would be interested in travelling to see a billboard but augmented reality is a unique technology that creates the desire for users to want to travel to see an advertisement. Neat stuff, our Russian readers can join the Facebook group here.
