If you have just brought yourself a nice shiny new iPad 2 and you’re looking for an app to show it off to your friends, keep an eye out for the fourth coming AR Magic Mirror application from Total Immersion. Total Immersion you may remember are behind such AR hits as ‘I Am Ironman’, ‘We Are Autobots’ and bunch of other interactive AR applications that we have reviewed in the not so distant past.
The application designed for the iPad 2 utilizes the forward facing camera to give the user a selection of virtual hairstyles, glasses and other accessories to try on. The application which uses Total Immersions D’Fusion platform tracks the users face in real-time to draw the selected objects over their image.

What’s interesting is the powerful D’Fusion platform has been ported to iOS. Undoubtedly the second gen iPad is going to become a huge enabler for future AR applications. Now we know why the iPad has a duel core A5 chip.
AR Magic Mirror isn’t in the App Store just yet but we are told that the app will be free when it appears. Take a look at the video below to see the app in action.
