Augmented Reality Jewellery Store
From time to time we see companies extending their online ecommerce store to support augmented reality as the final push in creating product desirability. We have seen it with items such as clothing (Zugara’s Webcam Social Shopper) or with various companies experimenting with eyewear. Spec Savers and Sunglasses Hut are two names that come to mind.
One of the latest companies to experiment with using augmented reality is the Australian store, Boutique accessories, a company that specialise in jewellery items. Using their online store visitors can try on a range of earrings, necklaces and bracelets by standing in front of their webcam while the flash plugin uses various tracking methods to position the apparel on the user. The head tracking software was pretty impressive but the bracelet hand tracking didn’t function that well in my tests. And by the way, I realize that the earrings don’t suit me.
