Augmented reality is the ultimate tryertising technology. From the comfort of your own home you can try the latest TV to see how it will look on your living room wall or try out the the latest furniture from the Ikea catalogue without going near a store. If you have shopped at Ikea, you know that that can be a potential marriage saver.

If you have an xBox 360 and a Kinect you can now try on the latest fashion range thanks to FittingReality and their VIPodium platform.

VIPodium is an augmented reality platform that uses the Kinect sensor to track the users position. The user is then able to use hand motions to move browse a catalogue of clothing that is positioned on their body. It not a new concept as we have reviewed Webcam Social Shopper from Zugara here before. What’s nice about VIPodium however is the software will track the users movement allowing them turn through 360 degrees. Another nice touch from the YouTube video below is the clothing actually moves, you can actually see the clothes reacting to the user movement.
