Today Peer Internet Solutions launched mixare, (mix Augmented Reality Engine). This is an open source augmented reality browser for Android and the possibilities seem, (almost) endless!
This week, AutoTrader have enhanced their iPhone application by adding augmented reality and allowing users to search for cars for sale in their local area, similar to ones that they snap with their iPhones camera.
Recently Nokia launched Ovi Maps Racing for Nokia Symbian^1 handsets. The idea behind the game is that you use your current location to create a track around where you are using Ovi Maps, and then you can race around, trying to set the fastest lap times.
QuickMark have recently teamed up with Google who have distributed over 100,000 QR codes to local businesses in the US. The announcement states:
“We’ve identified over 100,000 businesses in the U.S. as “Favorite Places on Google” based on Google users’ interaction with local business listings. Each business is receiving a window decal with a unique QR code that you scan with your phone to read reviews, star the business as your own favorite and more.”
