I came across an augmented reality demo a few weeks back that showed real-time tracking of players in a football game to show when they strayed offside. Assuming it is real, the most interesting bit is that the description says ‘based on Layar technology’
Layar was pulled from the appstore a month or so back but makes it’s return with version 3.0. An update with new 3D layers. Has it been worth the wait? Layar fans may want to skip today’s blog and get themselves a cup of coffee.
If you have an idea for a new layer but have been put off developing it because there is no revenue opportunities then good news. Layar announce that from mid March developers will have the option to produce both free and chargeable content. Layar are making a serious bid to become the augmented reality application store for all devices.

There was around 75 people who make the event andfFeedback from everyone I spoke to has been extremely positive, it’s something that you’d like us to do again. A few people offered to donate a venue for next time which will be fantastic, we’ll try to get a beer sponsor as well. We will look at planning another event for April so we hope to see you again.
