Presselite, the ever helpful French company who specialise in building mobile augmented reality applications to help users find nearby transport links like busses and train stations have extended their London Tube application to support the locations of the docking stations.

Recently the Mayor of London and Barclays (bank) launched a cycle rental scheme to enable Londoners to get around the city. The scheme enables Londoners to register to borrow cycles from the various docking stations located around the capital. Insert your card in to the machine, take the bike, and once you reach your destination, you leave the bike in the nearest free docking station, sign out and away you go.

Presselite, the ever helpful French company who specialise in building mobile augmented reality applications to help users find nearby transport links like busses and train stations have extended their London Tube application to support the locations of the docking stations.

The London Tube app includes an augmented reality view that enables users to visualize the nearest cycle docking station as well as nearby tube stations by holding the iPhones camera and panning around their surroundings, or find locations by viewing on a map. Once you have found your destination, the application will even help you with the navigation helping you arrive safely.

The application will even notify you about disruptions affecting the tube, so for the £0.59 asking price it’s a great little application for Londoners. (Look here for more info about)

If you have an iPhone and you love Twitter then take a look at Presselite's new augmented reality application that lets you see nearby tweets in a 360 camera view.

Pesselite today announced their latest augmented reality application for the iPhone. If you are a Twitter fan and wonder where all the people you follow are tweeting from, then Presselite latest application titled Twitter 360 will show you their location on a map. The application also has 2 augmented realtiy modes, point the device down it switches to show you arrows that show the distance of the tweet, when you hold the device in front of you the applications switches to focus on the tweets by placing them in circles.

If you have used any previous Presselite product to help you find tube (metro/subway etc) stations then you’ll find this application looks very similar as it shares the same augmented realty engine. Personally I am not a huge Twitter user, I just don’t seem to have the time to keep up so I tend to read more than take part, but I know it will appeal to many Twitter addicts.

Since I had a rant about privacy the other day I should refer you to this post. Augmented reality and geotagging is fantastic combination when you are at an event and want to see who is around you and what they are saying. But remember to turn off the feature when you don’t want to be found, unless of course you want everyone to know where you live.

Watch it in action

The new augmented reality Firefighter 360 game for the iPhone sees you take on the role of a firefighter putting out fires that spring up in your camera view

Presselite are no strangers to building augmented reality applications for the iPhone. Chances are if you have installed an application to tell you where the nearest tube, metro, subway or underground is located you have used one of their augmented reality applications. They currently have around 30 applications in the appstore.

Today Presselite launched their latest app, a game called Firefigher 360. In the game you take on the role of a firefighter and are required to fight those pesky fires that spring up around you. Of course being an augmented reality game the fires exist in your camera view and you’ll need to pan the phone around to find them , once located you’ll need to use your hose to extinguish them. After just a few levels you’ll find yourself fighting multiple fires and trying to manage your water supply.

For an iPhone game you need to be energetic, it’s not a game you can play while sitting on the sofa, you’ll need to stand up and move about a lot, but it’s still pretty good fun and if you have kids it will keep them amused for ages.

Firefigher 360 is currently priced at £0.59
